- (In 1999 the South African National Gallery was invited by the BildMuseet to participate in an international exchange programme titled 'Visual Cultures in Dialogue'. The project aims to examine cultural exchange through visual representation. It focuses on an exchange between Swedish and South African partners working in the fields of art and museology. To launch the partnership between the SANG and the BildMuseet, the exhibition 'Head North ' will open at the BildMuseet in Umeå, Sweden on the 25th February 2001. This jointly curated exhibition marks the first time that a representative selection of works drawn entirely from the SANG Permanent Collection will be displayed internationally., Parallel text in Swedish and English.)
